Zirconia Crowns

The strongest tooth-colored crown — virtually unbreakable.

Zirconia crowns are CAD/CAM milled from a solid block of zirconium dioxide — the same material used in artificial joints. The flexural strength is 900–1200 MPa, more than 3× stronger than feldspathic porcelain. They\'re virtually impossible to break under normal bite force.

Aesthetically, modern multilayer zirconia (BruxZir Esthetic, Zirkonzahn Prettau) has translucent edges that mimic natural tooth enamel. Even the most picky front-tooth cases are now zirconia candidates.

Process: two visits over ~10 days, or one visit with Same-Day Dentistry. Per-crown pricing: $300 standard zirconia · $450 multilayer aesthetic zirconia · $550 same-day milled. US average: $1,200–$1,800.

Materials

BruxZir Solid Zirconia (US-made), Zirkonzahn Prettau (Italy), or Vita YZ. All medical-grade with proven 10+ year track record.

Frequently asked questions

Zirconia or porcelain?

Zirconia for posterior, bruxism, or anywhere strength matters most. Porcelain (or layered zirconia) for front teeth where translucency matters most.

Will zirconia wear down my opposite teeth?

Modern polished zirconia is gentle on opposing enamel — actually less abrasive than older porcelain. Feldspathic porcelain wears teeth more.

Can I get zirconia same day?

Yes — our CEREC + Roland mill produces a quality zirconia crown in ~90 min.

Will it look natural?

Modern multilayer zirconia: yes, even on front teeth. Standard monolithic zirconia: best for back teeth where it's less visible.

Warranty?

5 years against material failure.
